What is the homework corrections policy?
If your student has come home telling you that they can correct ANY and ALL work (excluding bellringers...), then they are absolutely, 100% correct! In 7th grade ELA, we believe that students learn the most from their mistakes, which means the REAL learning is happening AFTER they get the assignment returned to them and they notice their mistakes. So why not reward them for noticing and correcting them?! Students earn full points back for each error that they correct, assuming they have included an explanation of how they corrected it (by including a page number, a new definition, an example of how they looked the answer up online, etc....). Please encourage your child to take advantage of this!!!

What if my child is sick and needs make-up homework?
Please contact me via email or call the office to request homework for your sick or absent child. Absent students will have 2 days (for each day they are absent) to complete their missing homework. They should turn their make-up work directly into me so I know it has been completed. If they do not complete the work within the grace period, the late homework policy (see above) applies.

What is Behavior Bingo?
Thoughtful behaviors (holding doors for people, cleaning up the room, assisting a neighbor, etc) will earn a student the chance to put his name on a slot on the Bingo board. At the end of the day, I will roll dice and one slot will win a reward (a class prize token, candy, a homework pass, etc).

What is the PBIS behavior system?
We are going back to the same system as Schneider - so students will be earning Gotcha's for good behavior and Tickets for poor behavior. By 2nd semester (after Christmas break!) we will move toward the behavior system that the junior high teachers use - which means your student can earn detentions for negative behaviors including chronic tardiness, multiple missed assignments, and other rule infractions.
