We reviewed some punctuation marks and discussed how important they are for fluency and understanding. We went on to cover plot maps - some new information and some old! - and then we enjoyed a little of Mrs. Yeagle's favorite children's book, Skippyjon Jones. Tomorrow we will use Skippy and his adventures to practice plot maps, and we will do some more grammar review so we are prepped for the heavy amounts of writing we do in 6th grade.
Homework today includes a social studies worksheet reviewing latitude and longitude and a math assignment. These worksheets are due tomorrow by 8:30am or else they will be considered late and will be subject to the 6th grade late work policy.
Your student is also coming home with a green paper - a Getting To Know Your Student sheet. Please complete this with them and return it to school by Friday, September 1.
Don't forget that Open House is this Thursday from 6-7. Plan on coming to stay for about 30-40 minutes as we guide you through a typical 6th grade day, explain our policies and classes, and answer any questions you may have. I look forward to seeing you there!!!
