A LOT has been going on in 6th grade, and it's only going to get better. The kids wrapped up an Egyptian god research project with Ms. Singler (the new district librarian), and now we're using those research skills to help us research Greek gods. This is hands down one of my favorite units to teach, and I think the kids are really going to enjoy it. We won't get into the nitty-gritty of Ancient Greece until we return after Christmas break, but we are starting off by researching one of the many deities they worshiped. Kids selected their god/goddess/monster/hero yesterday and will start researching today in class. We'll culminate their research with a project (a poster, mask, diorama, scrapbook, etc) and a short 3 paragraph essay.
It seems like even the best things get pushed aside, and the Homework Blog has been one of those things. But we're back in the saddle, and hopefully this post will make up for the absence of Homework Blog in your lives.
