Best day ever? Quite possibly!
In case your student failed to elaborate on the educational value of Phineas and Ferb today, allow me to explain:
As an introduction to inferencing, we started by sharing ways that we know we are going to get in trouble at home and at school. (Apparently busting out the middle name is STILL a go-to for most parents, so it's good to know I'm doing something right with my own kids!) After we discussed how us knowing the warning signs of getting in trouble was inferencing, I showed the Stone Age episode (season 3, episode 15) of Phineas and Ferb where the entire show is told through pre-historic grunting. I asked the kids to stop and infer/explain things at various points of the episode, showing them that we have to infer constantly, even while watching TV. Working with our inferencing skills and getting them sharper will help us as we move toward characterization later this week and will ultimately help us become better readers! Of course the hardest part is often showing the PROOF that our inference is correct, which is what we will continue to work on!

Looking ahead: Social Studies and Language worksheets this week (Tomorrow and Thursday?) and a spelling test on Friday!
