Like, for real.
Is it crazy? Yes. Is it nearly impossible to keep up with who is remote and who is in-person? Yes. Is it going to be a challenging year for all of us? YES.
But I am SO THANKFUL that our little district is trying this hybrid model so I can see my students at least twice a week. I got into teaching for the kids, and online learning/teaching is NOT the same as being in person.
These first two days of school were excellent, and I couldn't be happier. (LIES. I could be: if we were ALL back together ALL the time and the threat of Covid was finally over!)
Okay. Moving on...
If your student wasn't able to bring all of his or her supplies this week, that's alright. We'll still be finishing setting up and organizing next week. As a reminder, your student needs one 2" binder for ELA class, two folders, at least one composition notebook, two packages of those binder dividers (5 pack? 8 pack? whichever is fine), and plenty of pens, pencils, and writing supplies. Oh! And highlighters - blue, pink, yellow for sure, but they don't really come in a pack of JUST those colors.....so extras are fine, too.
We'll be organzing the binder so we can keep track of a LOT of things this year: vocabulary words, grammar lessons, reading skills, graded bellringers, student growth charts, drafts of our written work.... So it's important that we have the binder and the dividers to get this rolling. I'm more than happy to help locate supplies, so if you're missing something and can't find it, please reach out to me!
I can't wait to get started with this year and all of the fun things we have planned. We'll be reading historical fiction, making our own films, analyzing comic books/movie scripts/novels, and reading JUST FOR FUN. It's going to be a great year, and thanks for joining me!
