with a new quarter comes a few new items and a couple reminders:
1. Behavior bingo, in its initial conception, has become unnecessary thanks to the new Knight Shield incentive program - which gives me an opportunity to put some power into the hands of the kids as we revamp behavior bingo! Since I get to dole out Knight Shields when I notice exceptional behavior, I have decided to make the bingo chart student led, meaning they will be the ones dishing out rewards for the great behavior they notice from their peers. As usual, we will roll for a homework pass on Fridays!
2. Homework re-do is available on all assignments, but points will only be rewarded if the student provides an explanation as to why the answer needed changed. A page number, correct definition, or new reason of thought would all be acceptable explanations! Half credit is earned back for each corrected answer. Please encourage your student to take advantage of this chance for better grades and better learning - often the difference between an A and a B is only a few points!!!
3. Conferences are this week! Thank you to everyone who so willingly changed their conference time so I could teach my final course at theRegional Office of Education. It has been great fun and a wonderful learning experience to be teaching other teachers!!
4. Reading is becoming more independent. In order to have more instructional time during class, students will be reading most of the novel outside of class and coming to reading ready to discuss, share, and create. I will continue posting videos of me reading the chapters so all students can understand the text.
