So, on the one hand, it's only Wednesday.
But on the OTHER hand....it's already WEDNESDAY!!!!!
It's wild how quickly time flies during the school day, especially when our class is lucky enough to have all three core classes in the morning. We get all of the "serious" stuff out of the way before we even have lunch!
We read Those Darn Squirrels today, which for anyone who hasn't read it, is a HILARIOUS book about a cranky old man, some mischievous squirrels, and an unlikely friendship. We're using it to help us study plot maps, especially when the "climax" of the book isn't as obvious as it is in some other books (like the sword-fight scene in Skippyjon!) We spend language time learning the ropes of our vocabulary process and worked on what makes a great summary. We'll be doing a lot of modeled writing and group writing this year, so we talked about how important that will be in helping us all become better writers.
I'm definitely looking forward to social studies class tomorrow as we will FINALLY get to talk about some serious social studies - no more landforms review and basic skills refreshers!!!
Please don't forget to join me for Open House tomorrow! And thanks to those of you who left positive feedback on previous posts - I'm so happy that someone is reading this!!
