PBIS School Policies & Procedures
BRIJHS is a PBIS School. What does THAT mean? It means that we strive to focus on rewarding positive behaviors instead of focusing on the negative ones. Your student has the chance to earn Knight Shields for performing positive behaviors: holding doors open for teachers and peers, saying "please" or "thank you," being responsible, being a good friend, earning good grades...the list goes on and on!
Behavior Bingo is something I use in my classroom so students can recognize each other for being helpful and kind. A student can nominate his/her peer by putting his/her name on the Behavior Bingo chart and listing what that student did to help him/her out. I will roll the Bingo die weekly and the winner will earn an assignment pass to cash in for a free pass on an ELA task*!
(*Offer not valid on nightly reading assignments or long projects...!)
Of course, in every life some rain must fall, so there ARE consequences for poor judgement. Students who make poor choices will be removed from class, have parents called, or get long-winded lectures from Mrs. Yeagle. All of that could add up to detentions and losing out on the quarterly behavior reward.
Some 7th grade specifics for Mrs. Yeagle's ELA Classroom:
Classroom Rules
1. Be kind.
2. Be considerate.
3. Be generous.
4. Be involved.
(Or fake it 'til you make it!)
Additional Classroom Expectations
1. Be on time and be prepared.
2. Use your time wisely.
3. Be respectful.
4. Wait your turn.
5. Try your hardest -- and ask if you need help!
